TOYS FOR THE PAWS

Both our dogs and cat love toys. They each have their favorite kind. The dogs’ toys we can typically find at the dollar store, Goodwill, or if we have to pay full price we will hit up Walmart, potentially Petco, or PetSmart — depending on where we are. We always look for clearance and sale items since our animals are allowed to (and usually do) chew their toys up.

For our cat, he likes anything that has strings, makes noise, ponytail holders, clips, or anything of mine! Plus, shopping at dollar stores or thrift shops for dog supplies is a great way to find affordable toys for dogs.

🧠 Interactive Pet Toys & Feeders

Slow feeder bowls and interactive dog toys and cat toys are essential since the animals do get curious or bored at times. So we have some interactive toys that include hard chew toys that last like a bone, or we have scented throw ropes. We also like to make feeding time or treats a time for activity so they do not swallow their food.

At times, we will get out the slow feeder bowls or food/treat feeders that require work during feeding time. These things help to feed them and give them activity time, especially since they are in a small space and do not always get to be outside, except to use the bathroom.

🎾 Automatic Mini Tennis Ball Launcher

Our newest pack member, Little Boy (or Lil Boy), brought a ton of energy into our lives, along with a serious obsession with tennis balls. He eats with them, sleeps with them, and wants to play with them all day and night!

To help burn off his energy without having to physically play ball 24/7, we’ve been working on training him to use a mini tennis ball launcher. It is an amazing interactive tool for high-drive dogs, helping them get their activity time in even when we are inside or working.

🐕 Playology Interactive Scented Squeaky Balls

Because Lil Boy is so obsessed with balls, he loves to chew them up. We tried buying all kinds of “tough tennis balls” on the market, but they simply never held up to his teeth.

That’s when we discovered a brand called Playology. Their toys are uniquely infused with an all-natural peanut butter scent (which our dogs prefer, though they make other flavors too). These squeaky chew balls have been incredibly durable, and he hasn’t managed to chew through one yet! We buy the small size for our crew, but they make various sizes.

🦴 Nylabone Power Chew Toys

We had to buy special dog bones for Roland when we first got him because he seemed to chew everything. What I like about these chews is that they are flavored, the flavor doesn’t rub off on your furniture, and they just seem to wear down safely after being chewed.

They come in many different sizes, and the other dogs seem to like them as well. Providing appropriate chew toys like these can help prevent destructive chewing behavior in pets, especially when they are decompressing or dealing with a bit of anxiety.

🌾 Digestive Friendly Dog Bones

You can also opt for digestive friendly bones, which we give our dogs as well. These are a fantastic alternative if you want to give your pups something completely edible that is gentle on their stomachs.

The only real downside to these digestive-friendly options is that they just don’t last very long compared to a heavy-duty power chew! However, the pack absolutely loves them as a high-value treat.
