It’s been a year now since we took our last van trip or what I like to call our “rescue road trip,” to officially hand over Krypto Paws to his new dog Dad Adam yet this adoption was bittersweet with a shocking and life-changing ending! If you haven’t met Krypto be sure to read his story!
6 months earlier…
6 Month earlier… I accidentally might have gotten in over my head when deciding to foster Krypto simply for the fact that our life is not designed for BIGGER dogs. And while Krypto does curl up real small he also chewed up all the little dog toys plus ate 10 times as many treats as everyone else! And since I only had a 2 seater car at the time getting him around was a challenge! Not to mention he didn’t like to ride! He did go along with everything we did like traveling on van trips but tbh Krypto likes security and safety not to be constantly moving or changing environments. He likes a routine!
A few weeks before letting Krypto go…
A few weeks before letting Krypto go… I started to have What would best be described to a midlife crisis aka dog mom crisis! Something to know about Krypto was that his anxiety: pacing the floor, clumsiness, scared of everything, etc… all starts to rub off on you! Omg and the last week before we let him go he had a bad butt problem where he was bleeding everywhere! It was crazy one night we went to a laundromat and spent hours washing the sheets only to have him bleed on them again when we one up the next morning — so we went right back to the laundry mat again! Of course I know he was having a problem so I wasn’t mad at him!
Krypto created a Crisis
I even remember taking him to the vet crying one because I wanted him to stop bleeding but also because I was at my wits end with him! It was always just one thing after another. And I begged the vet to help me: find him a home through any resources they know … while they did give me some free expired meds and discounted his services it was only a temporary relief. That was all they really did to help me except told me to call the animal shelter in town 🤦♀️ — hello that’s where I got him from where they were going to kill him!!!

Finding Krypto A Home…
I was trying to pawn him off on anyone and everyone I knew or came across at the time. On the street, online, to family, friends, 24/7 I was hustling a home for this guy! I had a picture on my phone ready to go at all times!
Then NV came to the rescue to help after reaching out to his network — when one of his clients stepped up and told him he would love to help!!!!
Yes Icymi Krypto was going to be euthanized if I didn’t get him out of the shelter (because they needed room for more dogs) 😡 😭 ✋
So we took a trip to “the middle of nowhere” down a dirt rock road… and that where this story ends or should I say begins!
Who Rescued Who?
Now Adam stopped drinking and isn’t alone feeling depressed anymore! So we saved to lives and as they saying goes “who rescued who” also our client is now our friend and we talk to him all the time! We even went back to see how Krypto was adjusting to his new home and it’s almost like he forgot who we were!
The first time we left he wanted back in the Rv van but the last time he ran back in the house when we we got in! So like I said it was a bitter sweet ending! It’s hard to let go of your baby boy but it’s also best for him and everyone else involved! The rescue saved lives!!!!
P.S. Did you know Krypto has a sister named Petunia?
Oh and one more thing… When we were fostering Krypto I was hoping for a smaller dog that could fit our lifestyle maybe even stay forever so we ended up going back to the shelter a week or so after we got Krypto and adopted another little girl! But it wasn’t until we were finalizing the paperwork that we discovered Petunia and Krypto were siblings aka sister and brother!!!! So since we kept petunia it’s kinda cute that we always have a little piece of Krypto in our life. We even did a DNA test to confirm
